By switching the layout of the Community-Box to the new framework Bootstrap 3 along with the Glazed layout by sooperthemes.com, a big step for a better usability of the community solution on different platforms was made.
Earlier versions of the Community-Box since middle of 2012 already had a responsive design, too, allowing for depiction and operation of the platform on mobile devices, however, these points have been improved upon massively by the new layout.
Thanks to the unique functionalities of the Glazed layout in combination with the new Glazed builder, even community managers or operators without programming experience in HTML can create appealing websites including pictures, background pictures, icons, and texts. As a consequence, the community platform can be supplemented by further static pages or existing pages can be augmented by static blocks without having to assign external service providers.
We appreciate the benefits of Glazed so much that we accept license costs of currently 49.-€ per year and domain in exchange. That makes Glazed the only not open source component we incorporated in our open source solution.
